Itinerary

● Reach Bagdogra International Airport/ New Jalpaiguri Railway Station in the morning. ● From here a representative will help you get transferred to Phuentsholing. ● When flying by air , guests need to possess either a passport or a voter identification card ( Valid for 6 months from date of travel ). For child below 18 years ( If passport is not there , Birth certificate / an affidavit will be suffice ) in English Translation only ● When entering Bhutan via Phuentsholing Gate, entrance and route permits will be processed the next morning at the Phuentsholing Immigration Office ● In the evening you’ll be free to explore the quaint little town and its natural wonders at your own leisure. ● Later, return to your hotel and have a delicious dinner. ● Overnight stay at the hotel in Phuentsholing

● In the morning after breakfast, get ready to explore local places in Thimpu ● Start with visiting Crafts Market/Simple Bhutan – Shopping for souvenirs from the crafts market. Visitors will find an interesting assortment of genuine Bhutanese handicrafts and textiles available for sale here. ● Changangkha Monastery - Discover the oldest Monastery (Temple) in Bhutan, where new born babies in Thimphu receive names. ● Motithang Takin Preserve, located in the Motithang district of Thimphu, Bhutan is a wildlife reserve area for takin, the national animal of Bhutan. Originally a mini-zoo, ● Tashichho Dzong ( from Outside) - Once a Buddhist monastery and a fortress, is presently the seat of the Royal Government of Bhutan and also the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan). It is an impressive structure, which houses the throne room of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. ● Stroll Clock Tower and Thimphu Town - Stroll around the heart of Thimphu city. ● After breakfast, we will drive towards the Dochula Pass, 16 kilometers, 40 minutes drive through the winding road, amidst the forest of Pines and Juniper and the lovely view as we ascend slowly towards DochuLa Pass. ● The Dochula Pass at an altitude of about 3100 m is the place where this memorial is built. Set amidst the fluttering prayer flags, it is a visitor’s delight to spend some time here. ● The 108 beautiful Chortens is built by Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. From this pass, on a clear day, you can have a superb view of the highest peaks ● We will spend our time here, taking a stroll in between these 108 chortens, breathing in the fresh air, admiring the mountain ranges and getting lost in nature. ● After this wonderful visit, we will take the downhill drive towards Punakha. ● On reaching Punakha it is time to take a beautiful hike on the paddy fields towards ChimiLhakhang, the temple of the Devine Mad Man called DrukpaKuenley. We can take a picturised and leisurely walk through the paddy field, no steep climb here, just easy walk in the paddy field. The return journey takes about an hour and a half or two. ● After your lunch, drive to Punakha, we will visit PunakhaDzong, the most beautiful Dzong in Bhutan built in 1637 by Shabdrung, the spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan prior to the present dynasty. It is an old capital, which still serves as the winter residence of the monk body. The first King, UgyenWangchuck, was crowned here in 1907. It is now the winter residence of the Central Monastic Community and administrative headquarters of Punakha district. ● Next we will see one of the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, spanning 350m and perched high above the very swift river of Po Chhu. Draped with prayer flags, the bridge connects the town of Punakha and the PunakhaDzong, mainly used by locals from the other side of the town as a shortcut to PunakhaDzong.
